Postdoctoral Scholar; Ph.D. Civil Eng., Purdue
Dr. Sunbeom Kwon joined Duke University after completing his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Purdue University, where he specialized in Structural and Computational Engineering. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Pusan National University in South Korea. His research focuses on computational mechanics, dynamics, and machine learning for multiscale, multiphase, and multiphysics problems, with applications in solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, and fluid-structure interaction.
Research Interests
My research includes computational mechanics to develop fast, stable, and accurate numerical methods for solving multiscale, multiphase, and multiphysics problems with application in solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, and fluid-structure interactions. I am also interested in integrating machine learning approaches to enhance the efficiency of these numerical methods.
